EcoInnovation has been testing the Chinese wind turbines for the last 36 months to see how they perform in windy NZ conditions. We are happy to report that after some minor modifications (by EcoInnovation in NZ) they have performed very well. The turbines have large blades (2.15m) made from pulltruded fiberglass. The output we have observed to date is 300W (can do up to 450 Watts by altering governor settings), If you have light winds and want to generate in 3.5 m/s winds then this turbine will do it, and do it better than most other turbine we have come across to date. Visit our test site and have a look at the output meters if you do not believe us, best to visit during one of our open days. We can also re-wire the 24-volt version and make a 12 or 48-volt turbine for an extra $200. the tower can be expensive to freight and we charge a $100 packing fee on top of the freight charge for the tower. Collect yourself and save $$$. News release from Industrial Research Limited July 2006 following testing of a number of small wind turbines stated about this product One turbine from China shows remarkably better performance that many of the others, simply because it is designed for much lighter wind conditions." EcoInnovation improved these turbines and these 10 steps will be detailed in the July 07 edition of The Shed magazine.
