We all know that wire prices have fallen since M10 stores started selling house-wiring cable in NZ. This has helped to make this industry honest about wire prices. The price that M10 sell this wire for is about the same as what electricians can buy if for, so it is a good deal. We appreciate that M10 stores often do not hold many rolls in stock - we do. This wire can be bundled together to cost effectively wire in small hydro, wind and solar PV panels. All 3 wires together will give 7.5mm^2. If you run 2 wires, one for the positive and one for the negative then on a 48 vdc system at 10% loss you get over 500 watts down this wire on a 100m run.
In a 48 vdc wind turbine application, this is fine for a turbine rated up to 1000 Watts, as wind turbines very rarely get to full power and will generate most of the time at less than 200 Watts. This way the cable is cost effective. The two plastic layers and low voltage application means you can bury direct in the ground or sleeve with low price farm LDPE pipe if you want to offer more protection.
Some customer even bundle 10 together for high power long distance applications but to be honest you should look at our other cables, this method only works out more cost effective if you put no value on your time.
This cable can also be run using our high voltage micro hydro option on 3-phase at 350 vac. The loss at 500m at 350 vac is only about 10% at 500 Watts. You will need to ensure the cable is well protected at these voltages.
