Four hectares situated on the edge of Egmont National Park, just 3km away is Maude Track, a scenic tramp. You will also find the usual assortment of farm animals - Maisey the milking cow, chickens, sheep, goats, wild ducks, pukekos, the cat, dog and rabbit. The kiwi bach is an iconic getaway in New Zealand.  Ours is warm and cozy, with two bedrooms, lounge, kitchen, toilet, shower, and solar-heated outdoor bath.  Set in the middle of a tree-surrounded paddock, with complete privacy.

We built this hostel as our own first home on the property, so you know it's comfortable.  Upstairs and downstairs lounge, kitchen, woodburner with wetback, 2 singles, 2 doubles, 1 twin, futon, game room, BBQ, bath, and toilet.  Stunning mountain and private lake views.

Things to do during your stay:

EcoInn is the closest hostel to the mountain and a short drive (15 minutes) to the beaches. There's always plenty to do at EcoInn. Whether its thin air and altitude or wet hair and salty surf, Taranaki has a range of activities.



Fishing/Surfing/Bodyboarding- With 160 kilometres of coastline stretching around the mountain Taranaki is a rich coastal area with plenty to entertain the keenest of waterbabies. With world class surf breaks and waves in all wind and swell conditions the Taranaki Surf Highway is a must for all surfers. The area also boasts an abundant sea life and an afternoons fishing is never far away.

Or stay right on the property!  With chickens, goats, calves, gardens, and sheep to see, or rowing on the lake, soaking in a solar hot tub, walking our wooden bush boardwalk, there's plenty to get nvolved in. We're always happy to show you the workings of the renewable sources of energy; the solar panels, wind turbines, water wheel, and hydro turbine. The tree house, swing and slides are there for the adventurous.

Walks - 3 km from the hostel starts Maude track, taking you over the Pouikai ranges en route to the summit of Mt Taranaki. From over 2500 metres Mt Taranaki's near perfect shape offers amazing views over the plains and out into the Tasman.

Or for a more relaxing stroll, lake Mangamahoe features some beautiful walks for all fitness levels.

You can also just stroll around the property on our new bush boardwalk.




Cycling/Mountain biking - With nearby Lake Mangamahoe and the steep descents from the mountain Eco Inn is a great place to mountain bike from.





Skiing/Snowboarding/Sledging During the winter season the mountain also produces excellent conditons for skiing and snowboarding, 30 minutes drive to the ski field.
