The following is from the Waste Minimisation Site Assessment undertaken by the Taranaki Regional Council on the EcoInnovation and EcoInn site in March of 2007.

Waste minimisation practices
Packaging waste generated on the site, as a result of product delivery, is used whenever possible as packaging for EcoInnovation products.

A significant quantity of unwanted Smart Drives from Fisher and Paykel appliances are reworked and incorporated into electricity producing products.

The company manufactures products that generate electricity from renewable sources e.g. wind and water, which is in keeping with sustainable practices.

It is worth noting that the buildings on site are either wholly reused from other sources (e.g. storage containers), or a significant portion of the buildings are composed of reused materials e.g. timber.

Waste and minimisation practices even extend to double side business cards - EcoInnovation and EcoInn.

Have identified unwanted (furniture removals) wrapping that could be used to package EcoInnovation products.

Excellent segregation of recyclables. Plastic and glass bottles, aluminum and steel cans, paper and cardboard, packaging materials at segregated and furthermore into their constituent colors. All are stored in large drums and transported to the Colson Road transfer station when circumstances allow.

Cardboard

Recyclables other than Cardboard
Scrap metal and steel, aluminum, copper and other metals of segregated into like types and transported to a scrap metal dealer when circumstances allow.

Energy
All energy is generated on site by wind or solar generators (also hydro but not noted) renewable sources. Water heating is aided by use of wetback in firebox.

Lighting
Energy efficient lighting used throughout the site and used to economical fashion.

Fridges and freezes
